(Incheon = Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Eun-ji = A motorboat capsized in the sea near Wangsan Marina in Yeongjong Island, Incheon, and nine people were rescued, but two suffered cardiac arrest.

According to the Incheon Coast Guard on the 5th, a report was received through 119 at 7:17 a.m. that a 1.6-ton motorboat was submerged in the sea near Wangsan Marina in Eulwang-dong, Yeongjong-gu, Incheon.

The operator who was on the motorboat at the time reported to 119, “The waves were so strong that I thought the boat would capsize.”

After receiving the report, the Coast Guard sent five patrol vessels and an aircraft to the accident area and also requested rescue assistance from nearby fishing boats.

The motorboat capsized shortly after the report, but a fishing boat passing nearby rescued all nine crew members at 7:29 a.m., 12 minutes later.

Among them, two, a man in his 40s and an unidentified man, were in a state of cardiac arrest without consciousness or breathing and were taken to the hospital while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by the 119 paramedics.

The other seven crew members were confirmed to have no significant health problems.

At the time, a total of nine people were on the boat, including eight men in their 40s to 60s and one unidentified man.

The Coast Guard believes that they were submerged while riding a motorboat at Wangsan Marina for leisure activities and is investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
