According to air traffic control and flight tracking data, the passenger plane took off from Austin-Bergstrom Airport in Texas and was originally scheduled to fly to North Eleuthera Airport in the Caribbean island nation of The Bahamas. However, the passenger plane experienced a very unusual altitude change after passing over Naples, Florida. It dropped from about 41,000 feet (about 12,497 meters) to 35,000 feet (about 10,668 meters) and climbed briefly.
