The 4th "Good Picture Book Award" is open for submissions, with a maximum award of NT$900,000 to support Taiwanese picture book creation

The fourth "Good Picture Book Award" is open for submissions from September 14 to October 11. With the open spirit of "no restriction on creative themes", creators who have the dream of publishing picture books are invited to submit their applications.

The Kaohsiung City Library stated that since its launch in 2019, the "Good Picture Book Award" has continued to support Taiwanese picture book creative talents with substantial awards. As of July this year, 27 works have been successfully published and have been widely praised after publication.

Li Jinyang, director of the Gao City Library, said that the works of the previous Good Picture Book Awards have demonstrated the rich original energy and international potential of Taiwanese picture books. Eight of them have been expanded to overseas markets such as Korean, French, Japanese and Portuguese. Each year provides up to NT$900,000 in scholarship resources, and through guaranteed matchmaking, book purchase subsidies, promotion activities and domestic and foreign resource connection mechanisms, it is the most substantial and comprehensive picture book award in Taiwan, and has been recognized by the 2025 Golden Pin Design Award seal.

The works supported by the Haohuiya Award have also won many awards after publication, including the second award-winning work "Mr. Wang on the Street" which won the 49th Golden Tripod Award for Children and Teenagers Book Award and the first Golden Tripod Award for Picture Book of the Year; "If It's a Lie" won the 50th Golden Tripod Award for Children and Teenagers Book Award and the first Golden Tripod Award for Pictures and Pictures (Non-fiction); the third award-winning work "The First Day of Becoming the Sea" was also shortlisted for the 50th Golden Tripod Award for Children and Teenagers Book Awards.

The most important features of the award are "matching and guaranteed publication" and "staged creative consultation". After the publishing match, the selected creators will start a creative process of about one year, and senior picture book writers and editors will provide professional advice in stages, taking into account both creative freedom and practical guidance.

The Gaoshi Tu Hao Hui Ya Project has also consulted experts in the picture book industry this year to optimize the collection method, hoping to provide more immediate professional feedback to help creators break through bottlenecks and improve the completion of their works and their publishing competitiveness.
