Danyang-gun prepares to enact ordinance in preparation for expansion of rural basic income pilot project

(Danyang = Yonhap News) Reporter Cheon Gyeong-hwan = Danyang-gun, North Chungcheong Province, has begun full-scale preparations, including enacting ordinances, in line with the government's policy of expanding the 'Rural Basic Income Pilot Project'.

According to Danyang County on the 26th, the county plans to enact the 'Danyang County Basic Income Support Ordinance' to regularly provide local currency to all residents regardless of property, income, or labor.

As the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs expands the basic income pilot project area for rural areas next year from 17 counties to 35 counties, the plan is to put the final name on the target site through preemptive responses such as enactment of ordinances.

The military is considering providing local currency (in the form of a card) worth 150,000 won per month to each citizen.

A county official said, "We will strive to have Danyang-gun designated as a pilot project area through enactment of an ordinance and a residents' resolution meeting."
