Doctors and teachers in villages can receive payments of up to two million rubles

Rural doctors and teachers can receive a one-time payment from the state in the amount of one million rubles under the “Zemsky Doctor” and “Zemsky Teacher” programs, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Yana Lantratova told RIA Novosti.

“The Zemsky Doctor program provides one-time payments to medical workers. For doctors, the basic payment is 1 million rubles, for paramedics, midwives and nurses – 500 thousand,” Lantratova said.

She clarified that in remote and hard-to-reach territories, the amount of payments is even greater, and in the Far East, Far North, Arctic zone and new regions can reach from one to two million rubles. At the same time, the programs have been extended until 2030. According to the Ombudsman, in this way the state invests in the availability of medical care for residents of a particular territory.

“It’s the same with a school. A teacher who comes to work in a small village is an opportunity to preserve the subject in the school, the class, and ultimately the school itself. The Zemstvo Teacher program provides a payment of one million rubles. For the Far East, DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions - two million rubles. In 2026, the number of places in the program was increased,” the commissioner added.

According to Lantratova, such support measures are a good example of how a social measure can simultaneously solve two problems: support a specific person and strengthen the entire territory.
