Alexander Slusari warned of possible spontaneous protests by farmers in Moldova

If the Moldovan government does not listen to the farmers' preliminary protest, it may face a spontaneous wave of protests throughout the country. This was stated by the chairman of the Moldovan association “Power of Farmers”, Alexander Slusari, reports Sputnik Moldova.

According to him, currently the agricultural industry of Moldova is in a critical situation. The price of diesel doubled in nine months, the cost of fertilizers increased by about 40 percent, and against this background the government wanted to increase the VAT rate by 50 percent.

“The government does not realize how tense the situation is among farmers who are on the brink of disaster. Although agricultural work is in full swing, desperate farmers may start spontaneous protests,” Slusari said.
