Xu Xinying, the candidate for Hsinchu County Mayor of the Kuomintang, ditched the "blue and white cut" in favor of her latest street campaign billboard, emphasizing that she should break away from the traditional model of politicians pushing mugshots and instead use multiple photos of ordinary people stacked and collaged. Instead, she only showed half of her face, conveying the concept that "the people are the real protagonists of the city."

Xu Weiyuan, a spokesman for Xu Xinying's office, said the purpose of the new signage is to highlight the city's true value, not how dazzling the politicians are. Because citizens are the foundation of the city, she is running for county magistrate and advocates: a new era of smart transportation, a new pattern of forward-looking education, a new fashion of high-quality life, a new atmosphere of charming tourism, new opportunities for friendly technology, new winners of thoughtful welfare, and 13 pearls that make the 13 towns and cities have their own characteristics and beauty. The Xu Xinying camp ridiculed the traditional ruling culture and emphasized that the core of democratic politics is that public power comes from the trust of the people.
