Germany ready to host Olympic Games, Munich confirmed as national candidate

The Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) is ready and able to successfully host the Olympic Games and provide support for Munich, which has been confirmed as the national candidate. This was stated by the country's Chancellor Friedrich Merz. His words are quoted on the government website.

“The Olympic Games should be held in</think>Germany. Munich is our candidate to host the Games, and all of Germany supports it. We want to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games - for the sake of goosebumps, big victories, unforgettable moments and the whole country, which will cheer together,” the press service quotes Merz as saying.

On September 26, at the extraordinary general assembly of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) in Baden-Baden, elections for the German candidate for the 2036/2040/2044 Games were held. Before voting, Munich and Cologne-Rhein-Ruhr remained in the final stage. Later, the President of the Republic Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the head of the DOSB, Thomas Weikert, announced that the choice had fallen on Munich.
