Colombia announces cessation of diplomatic relations with Iran

Colombia announced the termination of diplomatic relations with Iran. The country's authorities explained the decision by Tehran's alleged connections with international terrorist and narco-terrorist organizations, TASS reports.

Bogota said that the activities of the Iranian authorities, in their assessment, pose a threat to the country's security.

The Colombian side also accused Iran of human rights violations, attacks on states not involved in the conflict in the Middle East, blocking the Strait of Hormuz and obstructing the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency to verify Iran's nuclear program.
