Three members of the same family died in Tisgaon in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district of Maharashtra.
According to BBC Marathi, Muralidhar Damodar Chandgude, his wife Sangeeta Muralidhar Chandgude and son Kunal Muralidhar Chandgude died in the incident that took place on August 21.
According to initial information received from the police, after a family dispute over mobile phone, Kunal Chandgude was threatening to jump from a nearby mountain.
Police received information that a youth was about to jump from the mountain. After this, police, a team of fire fighters and local citizens reached the spot.
According to BBC Marathi, a lot of efforts were made to convince the young man. A safety net was also installed below the mountain. However, Kunal was repeatedly changing his location, causing problems in the rescue operation.
Meanwhile, Kunal's father Muralidhar Chandgude reached the spot. He tried to save his son and pull him away from the edge of the cliff.
However, during this attempt, he lost his balance and fell into a deep ditch along with his son.
Mother Sangeeta Chandgude was shocked after seeing this incident.
According to BBC Marathi, according to initial information, she also committed suicide after seeing her husband and son falling into the ditch.

Regarding this incident, senior police officer Rameshwar Gade said, "On August 21, information was received that a person was preparing to commit suicide on Khavadya mountain. Police and fire brigade teams reached the spot and tried to pacify the youth."
"A net was also placed below to save him. However, he was constantly changing his place. Meanwhile his father reached there and while trying to save his son, both of them fell into the ditch."
Rameshwar Gade further said, "After this the mother also jumped. The police and firemen tried their best to save her."
Gade said that the height of the mountain is about 400 to 500 feet. “The dispute over the mobile phone devastated the entire family,” he said.
Police have started further investigation. This incident has created a sensation in Tisgaon and surrounding areas.

Sanjay Jadhav, an eyewitness to the incident, said that the young man remained sitting on the edge of the cliff for about three hours and did not respond to the repeated appeals of the local people and police officers to move away from there.
He told, "An 18-year-old youth had come here and sat on the edge of the cliff. He was not ready to move from there from 10 am to 1 pm. I was present there with the police."
Sanjay Jadhav told news agency ANI, "However, the young man was not ready to listen to anyone. He was changing his place and at the same time was talking to his mother. His mother was appealing to him not to do so and was constantly explaining to him. But he was not ready to listen to her. He was suffering from depression."
He further said, "For about three hours I tried to convince him and convince him to come down. Finally his father also reached there. We felt that his father would be able to convince him and bring him down safely."
"But after a few minutes his father tried to catch him and during this the young man and his father fell down. After this his mother also jumped down."
