In the Todzhinsky district of Tuva, a bear attacked a tourist, who received severe facial injuries and later died in hospital.

The deceased turned out to be Alexander Kuzmenko, the father of NHL hockey player Andrei Kuzmenko.

The hunter eliminated the bear that attacked the man, said Artysh Salchak, head of the State Committee for the Hunting and Hunting of the Republic.

A hunter eliminated a bear that attacked Alexander Kuzmenko, the father of the National Hockey League (NHL) Pittsburgh Penguins forward Andrei Kuzmenko, in the taiga of the Todzha district of Tuva, Artysh Salchak, the head of the State Committee for Fishery Supervision of the Republic, told RIA Novosti.

On Thursday, Salchak told the agency about the death of a tourist from Moscow as a result of a bear attack; the tragedy occurred on September 22. A group of seven people, despite the ban on visiting forests, took a boat up the Yenisei and settled in the remote taiga of the Todzha region.

The bear attacked one of the tourists, who received severe facial injuries. The man was taken by air ambulance to the republican hospital, where he died. Later it became known that Kuzmenko’s father was killed.

“At the same place (where the attack took place - ed.) he was killed by a hunter,” Salchak said in response to the question whether the attacking bear was found.
