On the first day of the Mid-Autumn Festival and Teacher's Day holidays, Yilan has a large number of vehicles returning home early in the morning. According to the latest road conditions, the total travel time of National Highway 5 southbound is about 42 minutes as of 9 a.m. The traffic bottleneck is concentrated in the Nangang system to Shiding section, causing congestion. However, after entering the snow tunnel and arriving at the Yilan and Suao sections, the speed of vehicles can reach 90 kilometers, and the road conditions are smooth. However, the traffic flow on the Suhua Road corridor continues to appear, and the police are doing their best to divert it.

On the Suhua Road Corridor going to and from Huadong, the southbound traffic flow started as early as 3 a.m., with more than 1,000 vehicles per hour. As of 8 a.m., there were 6,986 vehicles heading south to Hualien, and it is estimated that there will still be demand for 8,000 vehicles today. In terms of travel time, it takes about 98 minutes to go south from Suhua to Chongde on Line 9 of Su'ao via Taiwan. There are many cars but the order is good.

In response to the traffic flow along Su'ao and Suhua, Yilan County's Su'ao Police Station activated a diversion mechanism. The police started mobilizing police forces and volunteers at 5 a.m. to devote all their efforts to control the Su'ao Interchange of National Highway 5, Su Hua Gai and tourist attractions. The branch calls on drivers to follow the instructions of the police on site and avoid illegal queue-jumping, drunk driving and fatigue driving.

The Highway Bureau estimates that the peak traffic volume for the southbound traffic on the Suhua Corridor will be from 4 a.m. to 12 noon today, while the peak traffic volume for the northbound traffic will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 27th. It also advises the public to avoid peak hours or take public transportation. When traveling to and from Yihua, please use the Suhua Highway section and avoid entering Provincial Highway 9th Line unless necessary to ensure smooth traffic.
