China News Service, Lanzhou, September 24 (Gao Ying, Wang Ziyu) The large-scale historical and humanistic documentary "Fuxi", which took more than three years and spanned more than 30 cities and counties in 12 provinces, will premiere on the CCTV Record Channel during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday this year (September 25-27). On the 23rd, the film's creative team, domestic experts and scholars gathered in Lanzhou to watch the first and second episodes of the film and communicate about the creative process and cultural value.
According to reports, the film, produced by the Propaganda Department of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and produced in conjunction with CCTV Documentary Channel and other units, consulted more than 30 experts and scholars including Wang Wei and Feng Shi, leading figures in Chinese archaeology, before and after filming. Based on archaeological evidence, it integrated mythology, folklore, anthropology and other multi-disciplinary perspectives to systematically explain the historical significance and contemporary value of Fuxi culture.
Bai Wei, the chief planner of the film, said that the creation of the film transcends a single regional perspective and magnifies the coordinates of Tianshui into a huge space-time structure. In terms of creative concept, the main creative team insists on giving priority to academic and authoritative aspects, and at the same time focuses on the artistry and popularity of expression. It uses story-telling to bring the audience in, and then refines academic opinions through interviews with experts and scholars, building a bridge between professional scholars and audiences.
"Every expert has a Fuxi in his heart, and opinions often differ. When dealing with it, we must strive to be open and inclusive, allowing everyone to build their own Fuxi model." Bai Wei said that Fuxi has different spiritual appeals in each era. The film uses acceptance theory and empathy principles in the creation of the film, setting up interfaces from the perspective of the audience, allowing historical figures to resonate emotionally with today's public, and insisting on "resurrecting history today."
Fuxi is the humanistic ancestor of the Chinese nation, ranking among the "first of the three emperors" and "the first of a hundred kings". Fuxi culture is the original culture of the Chinese nation and an important source of Chinese civilization. Tianshui, Gansu Province is the birthplace of Fuxi and the birthplace of Fuxi culture. Public worship of Fuxi has a long history and has been passed down from generation to generation.
Zhang Xiaoying, the film's chief director, said that the team kept asking "What is the relationship between a legendary figure from 8,000 years ago and the Chinese people today?" and ultimately came to the conclusion that "Fuxi's civilized achievements are an idealized symbol of the collective wisdom of the Chinese ancestors."
"How to make young people willing to enter ancient civilization? The biggest challenge is to handle the relationship between academic and artistic aspects. If not done well, it will turn into a thesis." Zhang Xiaoying believes that the most important thing in documentary creation is to tell stories, start from a small incision, and use fresh people and events to present it. Don't deliberately please anyone, as long as you study things thoroughly and express them fully, the audience will naturally be drawn in.
Lang Shude, a researcher at the Gansu Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, believes that the creative team organically combined archaeological materials, documentary materials, and folklore, and "Fuxi, the god of civilization and humanity, was established."
Yu Tao, vice chairman of the Gansu Provincial Literary Critics Association, pointed out that the film has four characteristics: academic, inclusive, contemporary and open, making Fuxi no longer a cultural symbol for eight thousand years, but a spiritual resource that has a concrete connection with everyone today.
According to the main creative team, the second season of the documentary "Fuxi" is already in planning. In the future, it will expand its horizons to the research results of Fuxi culture and Zhouyi philosophy in the international Sinology community.
