A fire broke out at the Dugeng construction site in Leye Street, Da'an District, Taipei City. After being rescued by firefighters, he was sent to the hospital with a high fever.

A fire broke out at the Dugeng housing complex under construction on Leye Street in Da'an District, Taipei City at about 9 o'clock last night. The fire department dispatched hundreds of police officers to the scene and continued to spray water for 19 hours. The fire was extinguished at about 4 o'clock this afternoon. Fortunately, there were no casualties. However, when the police and firefighters were conducting follow-up treatment of the remaining fire, one of the members of the Anhe Fire Brigade suddenly felt unwell and had a high fever. He was sent to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. He has been transferred to the intensive care unit for continued treatment. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

After the Taipei City Fire Department received the report at about 9:9 last night, it successively dispatched 43 disaster relief fire trucks, 3 ambulances, 151 firefighters and drones to rescue the disaster. The fire was under control at about 4:40 this morning and put out at about 4:40 this afternoon. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Construction supplies were burned, and the burning area was about 3,000 square meters.

Since a large number of wooden building materials, pallets and other flammable items were piled in the basement of the construction site where the fire broke out, the temperature at the site was still quite high, fearing the possibility of re-ignition. Police and firefighters continued to spray water to cool down the fire. However, at around 5 pm today, a member of the Anhe Division of the Fire Department, surnamed Lin, felt unwell and was taken to Taipei Medical University Affiliated Hospital by ambulance.

It is known that Lin was agitated and unconscious after arriving at the hospital. He was diagnosed with Level 1 injuries (body temperature 41 degrees). Currently, he is sedated and intubated to protect his respiratory tract. He was transferred to the intensive care unit at 8 p.m. for continued treatment. As for the cause, further diagnosis is still needed by the hospital.

The fire was initially investigated by the police and fire fighters in the jurisdiction, and no signs of arson or external intervention were reported or found. The exact cause of the fire and subsequent handling will be further investigated and clarified by fire dispatch personnel.
