A resident of Mari El was detained and placed in custody for theft of payments from a participant in a special operation, reports the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The woman and her accomplices developed a criminal scheme to steal payments due to SVO participants. They convinced a local resident, who was being held in a rented apartment in Yoshkar-Ola under the pretext of employment, to give them access to his bank cards and accounts.

Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia, together with employees of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Mari El, identified and stopped the criminal activities of the accused. A criminal case has been opened for fraud (Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
