Freight train cars derailed on the Dvoynaya – Elmut section in the Rostov region

In the Rostov region, train traffic was delayed due to the derailment of freight train cars. The North Caucasus Railway (SKZD) announced a forced adjustment of the schedule in the Russian region due to the incident.

The accident occurred on September 20, 2026 at 13:26 on the Dvoinaya – Yelmut section. As a result of the derailment of some of the cars, the clearance restrictions on the adjacent track were violated, which resulted in an emergency shutdown of the contact network. Traffic on the Kuberle-Salsk section was suspended.

According to the department, there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the incident. Recovery trains were promptly sent to the scene of the event, and the causes of the incident are currently being established.

Due to the traffic stop, the logistics of passenger transportation was forced to be rebuilt. A number of long-distance trains had their routes adjusted, and for some passengers, compensatory delivery by bus was organized in directions from Tikhoretsk to Salsk, as well as from Rostov-on-Don and Salsk to Volgodonsk. Train crew employees provide passengers with the necessary assistance. Those whose wait at stations exceeds four hours are provided with bottled water and hot meals. Significant changes also affected the schedule of commuter trains.
