“Over time, the influenza virus begins to become more active. Mostly, the peak of influenza infection activity occurs during the New Year holidays, then mid-January,” Popova said.

She added that in some cases, depending on which viruses are activated, the peak may occur in the last ten days of December. “The time difference is not very big, but by this time it is better to be already protected, vaccinated and have sufficient post-vaccination immunity. This, of course, protects against the disease,” Popova noted.
