Thousands protested in Bengaluru's Lalbagh Botanical Garden against a Karnataka law permitting up to 5% of protected parkland for public infrastructure, which could affect 12 acres of Lalbagh and 15 acres of Cubbon Park. The protest follows earlier opposition to a metro line and now targets a tunnel road project requiring felling of 900 mature trees, reflecting broader global urban struggles over green space as cities face space constraints.
