Lark Island attack on Iran by the USA and retaliation from Tehran

While the USA increased the sanctions and blockade pressure on Iran with the threat of 'economic doomsday', the tension between the two sides rose again after weeks. The US struck Lark Island, where Tehran was monitoring ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. In retaliation, Iran targeted US bases in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates with ballistic missiles and UAVs.

HE KNOCKED ON THE DOOR OF HÜRMÜZ

US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a "limited and sensitive" attack was carried out last night on Lark Island, which plays an important role in Tehran's monitoring of ship traffic in the region with its strategic location at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz. While the statement stated that two missile launchers on the island were hit, CENTCOM Spokesperson Tim Hawkins claimed that the Revolutionary Guards were preparing to launch rockets carrying sea mines from these launchers to the Strait of Hormuz. It was stated that three people died and 10 people were injured in the attack. The Revolutionary Guard reported that they blocked a US drone in the strait last night.

RETALIATION FROM TEHRAN

Tehran's retaliation for the attack carried out by Washington after nearly a month of silence was immediate. The Revolutionary Guard targeted King Hussein and Al Ezraq bases in Jordan with drones and Khyber Shiken ballistic missiles. Jordanian Armed Forces announced that eight missiles were intercepted. Iranian media stated that the Al Minhad Base in the United Arab Emirates was hit by UAVs yesterday morning.

According to the news of American Axios, the Trump administration plans to organize "limited air operations" to prevent Iran from attacking ships passing through Hormuz. The plan, presented to Trump by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth last week, may be approved after the latest attacks.

TRUMP CONFUSED THE ISLANDS

On the other hand, US President Donald Trump made a confusing post on social media after the attacks. Trump shared a video prepared with artificial intelligence showing that Hark Island, located approximately 660 kilometers west of Lark Island, was targeted and said, "Hark Island is being torn to pieces." Vice President JD Vance claimed that "Trump sent a message to Iran" regarding this mistake.

NEITHER SIDE WANTS 'WAR'

As the tension between Iran and the USA escalated again, the search for moderation on both sides attracted attention. The US-based Wall Street Journal claimed that "President Trump's administration is making efforts to prevent a return to a large-scale conflict that could further deplete the US's stockpile of anti-missile systems and other weapons." Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkiyan said in his statement yesterday, "We do not want war and we have clearly conveyed this to the world. However, we will not remain silent in the face of any attack, we will respond to the attackers with determination."
