Election backstage from Abdulkadir Selvi: He pointed out two dates

Hürriyet writer Abdulkadir Selvi conveyed the Ankara backstage regarding the election date.

Selvi stated that it is being discussed that the elections will be held in November 2027 or March 2028.

Selvi predicted that if there is no change in the election law, the ballot box will be used with the current system.

HE GIVEN TWO DATES FOR THE ELECTION

Selvi used the following expressions in his article titled "The end of the election is in sight":

"It is being talked about that the elections will be held in November 2027 or March 2028."

Stating that the changes made in the election law one year before the elections are not valid in the elections, Selvi stated that changes in the election law should be made in October 2026 at the latest for the 2027 option, and in February 2027 at the latest for the March 2028 option.

Selvi said, "I think the elections will be held with the current system."

Selvi stated that the search for alliances will accelerate as the election date approaches, drawing attention to the impact of the 50+1 percent system and alliances on political balances.

"The search for alliances will accelerate towards the elections," said Selvi, and made the following assessment:

"As the election approaches, we will watch with amazement what negotiations will take place. The political struggle will become harsher. The fate of the election will be determined by the struggle between the CHP and the New Party and whether the DEM Party will nominate a presidential candidate."

WILL DEM PARTY NOMINATE A CANDIDATE?

Selvi argued that whether the DEM Party nominates a presidential candidate will be important for the election results.

Claiming that "there is no discussion" about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's candidacy, Selvi wrote that the opposition's presidential candidate has not been determined yet.
