Michael J. Fox touched his colleagues with his speech at the Emmys

Actor Michael J. Fox, best known for his role as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy, touched his colleagues with an emotional speech at the Emmy Awards ceremony. The Daily Mail writes about this.

In 1991, Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, which he publicly announced several years later. In 2000, Fox had to stop active work due to deteriorating health.

During the 2026 Emmy ceremony, the artist was awarded the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award; he appeared on stage in a wheelchair. Fox thanked him for the honor and admitted that he hid the diagnosis for a long time because he considered it the end of his career in Hollywood. “I wondered if the fans would laugh if they found out I was sick,” the actor shared.

According to Michael, he was ultimately overwhelmed by the support from fans. He admitted that it was the reaction of the public that gave him strength and allowed him to continue working. Fox founded a charitable foundation that funds research and provides assistance to people with the same diagnosis.

“I accepted Parkinson's disease, but I didn't give in to it. I realized that I had to do everything in my power for everyone who lives with this disease,” said Fox and noted the work of everyone involved in the fund’s activities.

Separately, the actor thanked his wife Tracy, with whom he has been married for 38 years, and four children. Michael added that the family sacrificed a lot for his well-being.
