(Tokyo = Yonhap News) Correspondent Lee Do-yeon = Kyodo News reported that the North Korean athletes participating in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games, which will open on the 18th, arrived in Japan on the 12th.

Kyodo News, citing the General Association of Koreans in Japan (Chosun Chongryon), reported that the North Korean athletes arrived at Nagoya Chubu International Airport via China that night.

It is reported that the size of the team is a total of 8 players and officials, and that the only sport participating is table tennis.

The Japanese government, in principle, prohibits North Korean nationals from entering the country as an independent sanction for nuclear and missile development, but has allowed entry as an exception for sports exchanges.

North Korea dispatched 107 athletes to the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, which closed on the 4th, and ranked 12th overall with 7 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals.
