The Japanese government launches a large-scale demonstration project of self-developed generative AI "Genai"

In addition to supporting article writing and translation, "Yuannei" will also provide the function of drafting congressional defense drafts in the future.

Japan's Kyodo News reported that this demonstration project targets about 180,000 employees, including government branches across the country. The purpose is to verify the effectiveness of improving business efficiency and identify relevant issues, with the hope of promoting "Gennai" to be officially launched in 2027.

The artificial intelligence (AI) system "Gennai" was developed by the Japan Digital Agency and was introduced to the agency on a trial basis in May last year. Its characteristic is that it is not outsourced but developed internally by the government, so it can handle information with a certain degree of confidentiality. Since May this year, "Yuannei" has been extended to other ministries and departments to conduct large-scale demonstrations.

"Yuannei" also has the function of automatically classifying government "public opinion collection". Since some cases receive thousands to tens of thousands of opinions, the operation of sorting out opinions was extremely time-consuming in the past. The introduction of "Yuannei" is expected to greatly improve the efficiency of opinion integration. In addition, the system also supports conference voice-to-text and translation functions.
