Lai Qingde calls for net-zero business decisions! Ten billion green funds have been established to support the dual transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises.
President Ching-te Lai attended Taiwan Smart Energy Week and pointed out that in the face of the challenges of extreme climate, rising AI power consumption, and stringent international supply chains, net-zero needs to be incorporated into corporate business decisions. The government will set a clear transformation direction and provide support, including the establishment of a 10-billion-dollar Taiwan Green Growth Fund, and plans to invest 100 billion yuan in small, medium and micro enterprises in the next eight years to support the dual transformation of digital and net-zero. Taiwan's renewable energy installation capacity has quadrupled from 4.7GW in 2016 to 25GW, and the cumulative offshore wind power installation capacity ranks fifth in the world. The government will promote diversified green energy, energy conservation and the construction of a strong power grid to stabilize power supply and implement energy security and net-zero transformation. Taiwan completed its first carbon fee declaration in May this year, hoping to encourage industries to independently reduce carbon emissions through the carbon tax system. All revenue will be earmarked for industrial green transformation and technological innovation. The new national carbon reduction goals are: compared with the base year of 2005, carbon reduction will be 28±2% in 2030 and 38% in 2035. Lai Qingde emphasized that the government will continue to assist enterprises to solve transformation problems, lower financing thresholds, accelerate the implementation of energy conservation, energy storage, resource recycling and other solutions, and enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises. He also thanked the Association for Foreign Trade, the Green Energy and Sustainable Development Alliance, and the International Semiconductor Industry Association for co-organizing this energy week, which brought together more than 400 companies, covering renewable energy, smart energy, carbon management, and green finance full-chain solutions. He looked forward to bringing more net-zero solutions to the industrial scene, and also allowing Taiwan's technology to go global, and jointly participating in balancing economic development, social progress, and environmental protection, so as to transform Taiwan into the next stage of production power.
