AKP district president's 'inspection' in schools drew reaction

With the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, while preparations for the new education period in schools continue, the activities of political party organizations in schools have also become a matter of discussion.

AKP Halkapınar District Headquarters announced in a post on its social media account that the district head "inspected" the schools.

The post stated, "Our AK Party District Chairman inspected the schools on the occasion of the 2026/2027 academic year."

In the statement, it was stated that the newly appointed security guards and school cleaning staff were examined on site in 3 schools in the district, and it was said, "They are performing their duties without any problems. We would like to thank all our friends and teachers who took part."

Speaking to Cumhuriyet regarding the post of the AKP district chairmanship, TÖBSEN MYK member Serkan Bebek criticized the supervision of schools by political party district directors.

Bebek said, "How nice! The inspection mechanisms of the Ministry of Education were not enough, so the political party district heads also started to 'inspect' the schools."

Stating that it is unacceptable for political party organizations to act as the heads of public institutions in schools, Bebek said, "It is not enough to have a say in every field, from the teacher's lesson, the student's education, to the operation of the school; now party organizations are stepping into the field as the heads of public institutions."

Drawing attention to the term "audit" used in the post, Bebek said, "We are wondering: Is the audit form also filled out in the party building?" he asked.

Bebek concluded his statement with the following statements:

"Schools are not the organizational buildings of political parties, and teachers are not party personnel! We will not normalize party tutelage in public institutions. Schools belong to the people, not to the parties!"
