Response from Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zakharova to Trump's 'energy ceasefire' offer

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mariya Zaharova stated that US President Donald Trump's "energy ceasefire" proposal between Ukraine and Russia should be supported with concrete steps and said, "We have always complied with ceasefires. The same cannot be said for the Kiev administration." he said.

Zakharova held a weekly press conference within the scope of the International Youth Festival held in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Speaking at the meeting, Zaharova said regarding US President Trump's offer of an "energy ceasefire" between Ukraine and Russia: "The important thing is to turn these statements into concrete steps. We have always complied with ceasefires. The same cannot be said for the Kiev administration. Therefore, every word spoken must be supported by concrete actions." he said.

Stating that Switzerland is not suitable for tripartite negotiations between Russia, the USA and Ukraine, Zaharova said that the country in question has lost its neutrality in foreign policy and is pursuing a policy against Russia.

Zaharova pointed out that NATO countries have established weapons production facilities in and outside Ukrainian territory and said, "Every point where there is a military threat against Russia is a legitimate military target." he said.

Stating that Lithuania's plans to lift the ban on nuclear weapons in its constitution threaten Russian security, Zaharova stated that they will respond to this.

Zakharova called on Western countries to heed her warnings about the proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Saying that Hungary's decision to expel Russian diplomats was not constructive, Zaharova noted that they would respond to this decision as necessary.

Mariya Zakharova emphasized that Japan should accept the consequences of the Second World War.

Answering the question about the fate of the Russian military base in Armenia, Zaharova stated that this base played an important role in ensuring the security of the region.

Zakharova said, "Russian troops are in Armenia within the framework of bilateral agreements. We are ready to comply with these agreements. We hope that Yerevan will demonstrate the same approach." he said.

Spokesperson Zakharova emphasized that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is unacceptable and against international law.
