Albares condemns the Russian attack against the headquarters of the Security Service in kyiv

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, expressed his condemnation this Friday for the Russian attack against the headquarters of the Security Service in kyiv. The attack occurred while the president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, visiting the country, was with Sister Lucía Caram visiting the Military Hospital of the Ukrainian Border Guard, according to sources from the Generalitat.

Although Albares had reported that Illa was at that time with the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, and the new Spanish ambassador to Ukraine, Adela Díaz Bernárdez, sources indicate that the Catalan leader was elsewhere. "At no time has the safety of the president or the rest of the delegation been suffered," the sources have specified.

"I strongly condemn the Russian attack against the headquarters of the Security Service in Kyiv, near the Saint Sofia Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site," Albares wrote on his social networks. The minister denounced that the attack "is an unacceptable escalation" and that "it goes against civilians, heritage and peace."
