Sabotage attempts on energy facilities in Germany

According to reports in the German press, an attempt to cause a short circuit was detected in an energy facility in Dormagen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Following the incident, the police received a letter claiming responsibility for the action.

Following the emergence of the letter in which successive sabotage attempts and actions targeting energy networks across the country emerged, the security forces raised the alert level to the highest level.

On the other hand, a transformer station in the town of Ganderkesee in the north of the country was cordoned off due to suspicious circumstances.

A search has been launched to capture the suspect

Security forces expanded the investigation after the sabotage attempt in Dormagen and also examined the Weisweiler substation near Aachen. The police spokesman announced that the letter of responsibility included a new attack threat against this facility and that the teams were looking for suspicious firing mechanisms in the area.

In the letter, it was claimed that the fight against fossil fuels was cited as the reason for the actions. After it was assessed that a man living in the city of Gevelsberg was behind the sabotage, the police launched a large-scale search to capture the suspect.

The wave of sabotage continues

There have been two more major sabotage cases against the energy network in Germany since the beginning of the week. Due to the vandalism attack on a substation in Bergheim, lignite power plant units with a total capacity of 4,200 megawatts were temporarily removed from the grid.

Simultaneously, one of the most critical high voltage lines in the state of Brandenburg was damaged by using devices containing conductive materials.
