USP Bauru medical students announce student strike and demand academic improvements

Mobilization began this Monday (21) and was organized, according to the students, to guarantee the continuity of care for SUS patients. Hospital das Clínicas states that service was not affected.

Medical students at USP Bauru began a strike this Monday (21). They demand academic improvements and improvements in the institution's medical training.

The mobilization was organized in advance to guarantee the continuity of health services. The assistance provided to patients by the SUS was maintained.

The student movement had the participation of students from all years of the course. Hospital das Clínicas reported that services were not affected.

The management of FMBRU-USP declared that classes will continue normally. The faculty highlighted the creation of a medical residency and the commitment to improving teaching.

Students from the Faculty of Medicine of Bauru (FMBRU-USP), at the University of São Paulo (USP), began this Monday (21) a stoppage of student activities. According to the movement, the mobilization demands academic improvements and advances in the medical training conditions offered by the institution.

According to the students, the strike was previously organized to guarantee the continuity of health services, without harm to patients and with the maintenance of assistance provided by the Unified Health System (SUS).

According to the direction of the student movement, students from all years of the course participated in organizing the event, making posters and demonstrating throughout the day.

In a statement, the management of Hospital das Clínicas de Bauru reported that patient care and the unit's activities were not affected by the mobilization of students.

The management of FMBRU-USP clarified, in a note, that the action is a movement organized by students and does not represent a strike at the college.

The institution also reported that academic activities continue normally and highlighted initiatives aimed at medical training, including the creation of a medical residency program to train specialists.

The college also stated that it remains committed to improving teaching and the campus structure.
