Andreas Norlén is nominated for re-election as chairman

Andreas Norlén was elected Speaker of the Riksdag in 2018 and has thus served for eight years.

"In this incredibly complicated parliamentary situation, it is good to have a speaker who is experienced," says Moderate leader and interim prime minister Ulf Kristersson in a comment to TT.

"It's much better than having a beginner," says Kristersson.

SD, KD and L stand behind Norlén, it was announced shortly after M's decision was made public.

"During his eight years as Speaker, Norlén has gained wide appreciation across party lines. In a difficult parliamentary situation, his experience and broad appreciation is important, says KD's group leader Camilla Brodin, in a comment to DN.

L leader Simona Mohamsson comments on the nomination at X:

"We in the Liberals think that Andreas Norlén should continue. My task is not to save Magdalena Andersson from her government background," writes Mohamsson.

The Sweden Democrats will also nominate Julia Kronlid (SD) to the Speaker's Presidium. Kronlid is today second deputy speaker.

"Stability and experience will be required in the chamber in the parliamentary situation we are in. We will get such stability with Andreas and Julia in the presidium," says SD's group leader Linda Lindberg in a written comment.

The opposition has not yet presented a candidate.

S group leader Lena Hallengren has been clear that they want to see a social democratic candidate at the same time that Vänstern is said to be considering supporting Norlén.

Norlén has tasked S-leader Magdalena Andersson with trying to form a government, and according to information to DN, there is a concern within V that a social democratic chairman who is new to his post will put the party line first.

At the same time, Ekot and TT report that Andersson and V leader Nooshi Dadgostar plan to meet on Sunday. It is not known what the meeting will be about.

DN has contacted the Left Party and the Social Democrats, who do not want to comment on either the Speaker question or the information about a meeting between the party leaders.
