Ankara Metropolitan Municipality provided certified chickpea seed support to farmers

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) continues its support in a wide range of areas, from seedlings to seeds, from fertilizer to diesel, in order to support rural development and increase domestic production.

As in previous years, ABB Rural Services Department brought chickpea seed support, provided with a 50 percent grant, to farmers this year.

In order to support domestic producers and increase agricultural production, a total of 1 million 500 thousand kilograms of certified chickpea seed support was provided to 4 thousand 762 farmers in all 25 districts from Balâ to Çubuk, from Ayaş to Şereflikoçhisar, from Polatlı to Nallıhan, during the production season. Ayaş Ortabereket farmers, one of the producers who put the seeds into the soil in February throughout Ankara, have started to harvest.

'FARMERS ARE SATISFIED'

Stating the importance of a very fruitful season this year, ABB Rural Services Department Crop Production Branch Manager Niyazi Zobu shared the following information: "Today, we harvested the chickpeas that we distributed to our producers with a 50 percent grant in February and early March. It was also a fruitful season. The yield increased when the good rainfall regime combined with certified and quality seeds. Our farmers are very satisfied, we achieved a yield between 150 kilograms and 250 kilograms per decare. "We are providing this support to reduce our legume imports, support our domestic production and reduce the input costs of our producers. Our farmers are very satisfied. We will hold the tender again this year and provide chickpea support to our farmers again."
