Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı participated in the honey milking in Sivas and issued a forest fire warning to beekeepers.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı participated in the honey milking program in İnceyol village of Sivas center with AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler and Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek. Minister Yumaklı, who milked honey while wearing a beekeeper outfit, later made a statement to the press.

'WE ARE SECOND IN THE WORLD IN HONEY PRODUCTION'

Stating that Türkiye has an extremely important geography in terms of beekeeping, Minister Yumaklı said, "We are in the second place in the world in honey production. We continue to push for the first place. In this regard, there is a great effort and effort of our beekeeping brothers. We have approximately 9 million hives in Türkiye. Hopefully, our honey production will be between 97 thousand tons and 100 thousand tons. Today, we are in the second place in the world in the number of hives. We are also in the second place in honey production. Pine honey production is also in the world. 90 percent of it is done in our country. While doing all this, we do not just leave our hives to nature and expect a production from there. We published a map regarding this. Therefore, it is possible for our beekeeper brothers to realize all the issues related to production by looking at this map. It was not a well-known thing in our country recently. Although it was known, we published the regulation regarding bee poison. "It will be a very important source of income for our country. There are 41 types of honey with geographical indications in Türkiye. Every corner of this beautiful country is extremely suitable for beekeeping with its unique flora, natural beauties and biodiversity," he said.

FOREST FIRE WARNING TO BEEKEEPERS

Stating that it is a risky period in terms of forest fires and warning beekeepers, Yumaklı said, "We are in a risky period in terms of forest fires. Our beekeeper brothers must comply with the warnings of the relevant units of our ministry wherever they go. I especially request them to avoid any issues that may cause an exacerbation, especially the fire they light for smoking, regardless of the distance of the forest areas in periods and time zones when the wind and temperature are high and the humidity is very low." Minister Yumaklı also met with the producers. A lamb and a puppy Kangal dog were presented as gifts to Minister Yumaklı, who listened to the problems and demands of the producers.
