Verdict in the femicide case in Ankara: Aggravated life sentence

The hearing held at the Ankara 1st High Criminal Court was attended by the detained defendant Fuat Yıldırım, the victim's family relatives and the lawyers of the parties.

The presiding judge reminded that the opinion on the merits of the previous hearing had been announced and announced that witnesses would be heard.

Witness Y.Ö. stated that he was in the office early in the morning on the day of the incident, and that the defendant Yıldırım sent him a message in the morning and said that they would come to the office with the victim.

Stating that the defendant Yıldırım asked him to buy alcohol and leave it at the office, Y.Ö said, "I assumed that they would talk privately. I did not find it strange. I went to the shop opposite. I saw that they came and went to the shop around 08:00 in the morning." he said.

Y.Ö. explained that the defendant Yıldırım called D.K. after a while and made the following statement:

"We didn't hear any shouting before. It didn't stop for long before D.K. came back. Immediately after that, I heard the door being locked and three gunshots. I ran out. When I reached them, G.Ö. was in shock. He was saying to Fuat brother, 'What have you done?'. Fuat brother said, 'What have I done?' Then I went to call others and then the police came."

The defendant Fuat Yıldırım stated that he was sorry and repeated his previous statements.

The public prosecutor, who was asked for his opinion, repeated his opinion on the merits and requested that the defendant Yıldırım be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional murder against a woman", but that a discount be applied for "unfair provocation" within the scope of Article 29 of the Turkish Penal Code.

Nurselen Gülaçtı's brother, Onur Enes Gülaçtı, stated that the defendant should not be given an unfair provocation discount, that the defendant had been disturbing his sister for a long time, and asked for the most severe punishment.

The complainant's lawyers also took the floor, saying that the defendant was determined to kill the victim the day before the incident and sent threatening messages, and that they did not agree with the opinion. "We demand that the defendant be punished for 'deliberate killing against a woman' and that no discount be applied." he said.

Announcing its decision, the court decided that the detained defendant Fuat Yıldırım should be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "deliberately killing a woman" and 2 years in prison for "carrying an unlicensed weapon", without any reduction.

In the indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that on November 27, 2025, Fuat Yıldırım met Nurselen Gülaçtı, whom he had previously met and worked as a psychologist in a private institution, and took her to his own printing shop, and after locking the door, he shot Gülaçtı in the head with a gun and killed her.

In the indictment, it was determined that Yıldırım had sent threatening messages to the victim before the incident, that he had previously procured the weapon he used in the crime, and that he had planned and carried out the action; therefore, it was requested that the defendant be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "deliberate murder against a woman".
