Call to demonstrate for the climate on Saturday throughout France

Middle schoolers, high school students, students, precarious young people are calling to demonstrate on Saturday “for the climate” throughout France, noted Monday, September 21, Agence Radio France, according to a column by “the youth of the September 26 movement,” published in Libération. “We have the right to a future,” is written in this youth appeal. “In the last 30 years, absolutely nothing has happened that is up to par. Summits, fallacious declarations, promises never kept, objectives constantly postponed. Meanwhile, pollution spreads, the disaster worsens,” explain the signatories. They add: “The climate emergency obliges us: it is our very near future that is at stake.”

The “September 26 movement”, which includes “the youth of the September 26 movement”, also calls on Emmanuel Macron in an open letter. In this document, the more than 40,000 signatories demand a climate emergency plan, but also “an adaptation plan” and “a mitigation plan”. Among the signatories, there are more than 1,000 organizations such as Alternatiba, Attac, and Greenpeace. Gatherings are planned for Saturday notably in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Rennes, Strasbourg, and even Lille.
