Aragon withdraws the Arabic language and Moroccan culture teaching program due to lack of documentation for teachers

The schools of Aragon will not include the Arabic language and Moroccan culture teaching program during the course that is about to begin. The regional government has decided to execute this measure as part of the agreement reached between PP and Vox for the investiture of Jorge Azcón.

A "commitment", according to the Minister of Education, Carmen Susín, whose fulfillment has been facilitated by the lack of documentation "relative to the criminal and administrative suitability of the program's teaching staff." The head of the branch has indicated that on August 3, the required files were requested to verify that these teachers are officials of the Moroccan Ministry of Education and that they have no record of sexual crimes, "an essential element to be able to work with minors." However, he added, "to date we have not received a response" from the Moroccan Embassy in Spain and the Ministry of Education, who coordinate this program managed by the different autonomous communities.

"Access to the programming, content and skills was also requested to be able to reliably verify its respect for democratic values, tolerance, intercultural education and the sociocultural inclusion of students in the Aragonese and Spanish system and society," adds the statement issued by the department.

For this reason, without being able to guarantee "safety in the classrooms", the Aragonese Executive rules out the development of this program, which had been taught in ten centers in the region and which almost 500 students have enjoyed in the last three years. "The Educational Administration cannot allow having teaching staff from another Government in our facilities without meeting all the requirements that we demand of our teachers," Susín stated.

The fulfillment of this point of the government agreement has been celebrated by Vox, as a sign of the progress of the agreement signed with the Popular Party. "With this pact we say no to the Islamization of Europe, no to the Islamization of Spain and we emphasize that we fulfill our electoral promises," said the regional vice president and highest representative of the party in the region, Alejandro Nolasco.

The withdrawal of the Arabic Language and Moroccan Culture Teaching Program (PLACM) is one of the measures included by the formation led by Santiago Abascal in several of the governance agreements reached after the last electoral cycle. In this way, Aragón joins the Region of Murcia, Extremadura and Andalusia, which have already activated or announced their suspension. It will not continue to be present in the classrooms of the Community of Madrid, while the schools in Castilla y León were not directly included in the official network of the program.
