Arab Coalition Claims to Block Drone Attack on Mecca

Arab Coalition Spokesperson Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, in his statement on the social media platform of the US-based company

Maliki reported that the UAV in question was blocked and destroyed in the south of the city of Mecca.

Brigadier General Maliki continued as follows:

"This hostile and terrorist attempt is the second attempt to target Mecca Al-Mukarramah after the ballistic missile attack on July 27, 2017. It is a shameful act to attempt to target the holy land, where the revelation descended, the land of my prophethood and the beloved of millions of Muslims from all over the world. This act, aimed at deliberately provoking the emotions of millions of Muslims, will remain a new shameful stain on the terrorist Houthis' black record of violations."

Emphasizing that the security of Hajj and Umrah visitors is a "red line", Maliki said, "The Coalition Forces Command will not hesitate to take all necessary and deterrent measures against these hostile and terrorist behaviors of the Houthis." he said.

Denying allegations of threats against Mecca from the Houthis

Yesterday, the Houthis denied claims that the holy places in Saudi Arabia, especially Mecca, were the target of a threat originating from Yemen.

According to the news of the Houthi-owned Al Masirah television, a military source in Houthi-controlled Sanaa stated that there was no threat to Mecca from Yemen.

The source emphasized that the allegations that Mecca and holy places were targeted did not reflect the truth.
