Doctor Nurettin Demirkol, Suspect in Arif Ahmet Denizolgun Death Investigation, Arrested

Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the death of former Minister of Transport Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, Nurettin Demirkol, who was claimed to be Denizolgun's doctor, was detained on the charge of "false testimony".

Demirkol, who was referred to the courthouse this morning, was arrested.

HIS STATEMENT HAS BEEN REVEALED

Nurettin Demirkol's statement as a 'witness' at the prosecutor's office on August 26 was also revealed.

Demirkol used the following statements in his statement:

"I know Arif Ahmet Denizolgun because I have examined him several times. The claims that I am Denizolgun's private doctor are not true. I only examined him a few times when he came to the hospital. All I knew was that he had hypertension. He had no other illness. I had never been to the farm except the day of the incident. I did not even know that he had a farm. I do not remember who called me because a long time had passed since the incident. Although I do not remember the exact time, it was dark, it was night. I do not remember exactly what they said when they called me. I went to the farm alone. They probably sent me a location. When I got there, Denizolgun was half lying on the sofa bed.

When I went there, rigor mortis had started in Denizolgun. I did not see any bruises or scratches on his body due to being beaten. I did not see any blood on his face or anywhere on his body. Due to the death on the day of the incident, I may have interpreted the dark colored liquid coming from the stomach as blood. I am not a Forensic Medicine expert. I signed the document given to us on the day of the incident as it was. It may have been recorded incorrectly in the minutes. There was absolutely no blood on the victim's face. He had bruises on the front of his body. When I left, the victim was sitting on the sofa. He was in the same place when the police arrived. The police then lowered the victim to the ground. When I went to the scene, I only said that the person had passed away. "I did not evaluate him as suspicious."

'I MAY HAVE INTERPRETED THE FLUID COMING FROM THE STOMACH THAT DAY AS BLOOD'

Demirkol said:

"I don't remember the exact time I went to the scene. However, police teams arrived at the scene about an hour after I left. Later in the morning, the prosecutor came to the scene and said that Denizolgun would be sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute in Bakırköy. I gave a statement to the prosecutor while I was in the farm on the day of the incident. However, I am not sure about the part where I said there was blood in his mouth. Maybe I may have interpreted the liquid coming from the stomach due to death that day as blood. I do not know anything that happened in the community.

I do not know whether Alihan Kuriş declared his leadership or not. The deceased's body was taken away by the police. As far as I know, the body was not brought to Hisar Hospital. I know that on the day of the incident, the body was removed from the farm and taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute. After the police told me that I had to go, I went to the Forensic Medicine Institute in a vehicle that I do not remember now. He was never taken to the hospital beforehand. I was sleepless and tired at the time of the incident. "I do not have a special patient-doctor relationship with the victim."
