Suspicious Death Investigation Concerning the Death of Arif Ahmet Denizolgun and Detention of Nurettin Demirkol

It was stated that when Demirkol was asked for the address, he said that he did not know the exact address, whereupon the operator said that he "should call 156" as it could be the gendarmerie's area of ​​responsibility, and the phone call ended.

It was stated in the report that Demirkol called 155 again a few minutes later and said, "I just called, Doctor Nurettin Demirkol, about someone who passed away..." He stated that he had spoken to the gendarmerie, but was told that the area was under police responsibility, and asked for help from 155 again.

According to the report, Demirkol asked the operator, "Is there a suspicious death issue here?" He answered the question as "A suspicious, unexpected sudden death, an unexpected, suspicious sudden death..."

Denizolgun was Kuriş's uncle and he was the leader of the community until he was found dead in his home in Istanbul's Beykoz district in 2016.

Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine Department of Forensic Medicine Lecturer Prof. Dr. The death was also found to be "suspicious" in the expert report prepared by Nevzat Alkan.

In the report, 145 photographs and video images of the autopsy performed in 2016, the Forensic Medicine Institute reports of the period, criminal investigations, crime scene records, witness statements, the Fethi grave report dated August 19, 2026, and other forensic medical documents in the investigation file were evaluated together.

It was stated that in Denizolgun's autopsy photographs and video recordings, there were 4 separate bruises lined up from the lower part of her right breast to the middle of her chest.

It was included in the report that bleeding occurred in the tissues under these bruises, indicating that these lesions occurred before death.

“HE MAY HAVE BEEN STOKED WITH A PILLOW”

Considering the size of the lesions and their location on the chest, the report also included the assessment that a death mechanism such as a person pressing the chest with their knee, covering the mouth and nose with a pillow, leaving them breathless is possible.

In the report, it was stated that, considering the current findings and the advanced level of decomposition at the time of the autopsy, it is not possible to scientifically and objectively exclude the possibility that Denizolgun was killed deliberately by covering his mouth and nose.

Doctor Nurettin Demirkol testified as a witness at the prosecutor's office on 26 August.

Demirkol said that the victim did not have a private doctor, that he examined him several times when he came to Hisar Hospital, and that he never went to the farm except the day of the incident.

When asked how he became aware of the situation, Demirkol said, "I don't remember who called me because a long time has passed since the incident. Although I don't remember the exact time, it was dark, it was night. I don't remember exactly what they said when they called me. I went to the farm alone. They probably sent me a location. However, I don't remember who sent me a location and how because it has been a long time since the incident." he replied.

Demirkol stated that when he went to the scene, he only said that the person was dead and did not make an evaluation such as "suspicious", and claimed that he did not know who called the medical team and the police and at what time.

Demirkol claimed that he was sleepless and tired at the time of the incident and that he did not know why his private doctor was written in the report, and stated that he did not have a private patient-doctor relationship with the victim.

An investigation was launched against Nurettin Demirkol for the crime of "false testimony".

Demirkol was taken into custody.
