Nurettin Demirkol was referred to the court with a request for arrest in the investigation into the death of Arif Ahmet Denizolgun

The investigation launched by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organized Crimes Bureau upon allegations regarding the death of Arif Ahmet Denizolgun on September 7, 2016 continues.

Demirkol, who was detained for the crime of "false testimony" within the scope of the investigation, was referred to Bakırköy Courthouse after his procedures at the police station.

Suspect Nurettin Demirkol, whose statement to the prosecutor's office was completed, was sent to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the statement made by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on August 18, it was noted that an allegation and complaint was made regarding the suspiciousness of the death and autopsy procedures of Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, who passed away in September 2016, and that a decision was made to place the victim in a fethi grave in order to conduct a re-examination regarding the determination of the real cause of death of the victim in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

In line with the decision, the deputy chief prosecutor, the public prosecutor, Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute experts and crime scene investigation teams came to Denizolgun's grave on August 19, and the parts of Denizolgun's body were taken from the grave opened by the officials and taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute by transport vehicle for examination.

The samples removed from the grave were placed back in the grave on August 20 after the procedures.

In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on August 26, it was stated that a "suspicious death" was detected in Denizolgun's autopsy and that the investigation was continuing against the suspects, including Alihan Kuriş, for the crime of "homicide".

The information and documents obtained as a result of the preliminary examination after the opening of Denizolgun's grave were sent to the 1st Specialization Board of the Forensic Medicine Institute for reporting.

An investigation was launched against Nurettin Demirkol, who previously testified as a witness within the scope of the investigation, on the charge of "false testimony".

Suspect Demirkol was detained.
