Armengol expels PP deputy Ana Vázquez from Congress for showing pepper spray

The president of Congress, Francina Armengol, expelled PP deputy Ana Vázquez from the chamber this Wednesday for showing a "weapon", a pepper spray, during the Government control session.

Vázquez has shown the problem during his debate with the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, reproaching him that the citizens of Ceuta have had to resort to this type of instruments to defend themselves since the massive entry of immigrants at the end of July.

Once his scuffle with the minister ended, Armengol called the deputy to order, alluding to article 101 of the Congressional Regulations, which prevents the display of weapons in parliament and arguing that a pepper spray canister is considered as such according to the Weapons Registry.

"I ask you to leave the chamber and deposit what you have taught because this cannot be raised in the house of the people's sovereignty and in the house of democracy. What we would not allow anyone to do in this house cannot be done by a deputy who has to represent them," Armengol indicated.
