Jewelry store robbery in Goiânia ends with four dead

A robbery at a jewelry store in Goiânia ended with 4 dead this Tuesday (15). A couple pretended to be customers to enter the establishment.

During the announcement of the robbery, an employee reacted and tried to disarm the suspects. He was shot and died after being taken to the hospital.

Another employee was injured in the leg when fighting with the robbers. Colleagues managed to get the gun and killed the couple on the spot.

A third suspect fled the scene, but was located by police in Jardim Novo Mundo. He died after clashing with police officers.

The driver hired by the group for R$70,000 was arrested by the police. The Civil Police are investigating the case under secrecy as a robbery.

A video taken by a surveillance camera shows the moment in which a couple posed as customers interested in rings to enter a jewelry store in a robbery that ended with four deaths in Goiânia. One of the employees reacted and the robbery ended with the death of him, the couple who pretended to be customers and a third suspect.

The robbery took place late this Tuesday afternoon (15), in Setor Campinas. The names of the suspects were not released. After posing as customers, the couple entered the establishment and announced the robbery.

According to the Military Police, they carried a weapon and ordered employees to position themselves next to the wall. However, one of the employees reacted and tried to take the weapon, but was shot in the arm and chest. He was taken to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and died.

After the first employee reacted, another also reacted to the assault and got into a physical fight with the suspect. This second employee was shot in the leg. He was also taken to medical care and is not at risk of death, according to the PM.

During the robbery, other employees managed to take the weapon used by the suspects and fired shots at the couple, who died at the scene. The third suspect who entered the jewelry store with the couple managed to escape, but was found by Rotam in Jardim Novo Mundo.

According to the police, during the attempt to arrest this third suspect, there was a confrontation and he also died. The Military Police reported that the suspects went to the jewelry store with an app driver, who was arrested. He told the police he was hired for R$70,000 just to digest and pose as the couple's hostage.

To g1, capital Gustavo Arantes reported that, of the four people involved, only three entered the jewelry store and the driver was left out. "Of the other two who fled, one was arrested, the driver, who turned himself in. The fourth perpetrator confronted the police and died," he reported.

The Goiás Civil Police informed, in a note, that the case is being investigated under secrecy by the State Criminal Investigations Office (DEIC) as a robbery, a crime of robbery followed by death. The police are awaiting expert reports and other ongoing steps to investigate the facts.
