Body of woman missing after leaving a nightclub is found in Curitiba

Maria Fernanda Naiser Fragais, 43, was last seen accompanied by a man, who was identified by the police and is treated as a suspect. Body was found in the Pinheirinho neighborhood.

Maria Fernanda Naiser Fragais, 43 years old, disappeared after leaving a nightclub in the Pinheirinho neighborhood, in Curitiba.

Her body was found in a ditch, about 20 meters from the establishment, on Tuesday (15).

The police identified the man who was with Maria Fernanda at the dance club and are treating him as a suspect in the death.

Witnesses were interviewed by the Civil Police, who were investigating the circumstances of the death and analyzing images from security cameras.

A woman was found dead in a ditch in the Pinheirinho neighborhood, in Curitiba, on Tuesday (15). Maria Fernanda Naiser Fragais, 43, had been missing since Sunday (13), after leaving a nightclub with a man, according to the Civil Police (PC-PR).

The body was found on Rua Gertrúdes Cruz de Andrade, approximately 20 meters from the establishment where Maria Fernanda was.

The police have already identified the man who was with Maria Fernanda at the dance club and are treating him as a suspect. According to delegate Victor Menezes, the main line of investigation is that he may have caused the death. His name was not released.

According to her daughter, Eduarda Naiser, Maria Fernanda lived in Palmas, in the south of Paraná, and left the city on Monday (7) heading to Curitiba. She had not seen her family members who live in the capital for 14 years.

On Saturday (12) night, Maria Fernanda went to a dance club in the Pinheirinho neighborhood accompanied by her niece. According to her daughter, she had already visited the establishment on other occasions.

According to her daughter's report to RPC, a TV Globo affiliate in Paraná, Maria Fernanda met a man during the party. The two remained together throughout the night. The family suspects that an argument may have occurred between them.

The niece who accompanied Maria Fernanda realized that she had disappeared and went out to look for her, but was unable to find her.

According to the person responsible for the establishment, images from security cameras show the man buying drinks, the arrival of Maria Fernanda and the two drinking and smoking together. Afterwards, the images show the two leaving the place together.

The owner stated that there was no record of aggression inside the establishment and said that he handed the images over to the Civil Police and the family.

"Nothing happened inside the house... Pulling, hitting, dragging... nothing. Otherwise, the security guards would have intervened. They left happy," he added.

The family reported the disappearance on Sunday (13).

Investigation

The Civil Police are investigating the circumstances of the death. This Wednesday (16), witnesses are heard and the information provided will be analyzed by the team responsible for the case.

Chief Victor Menezes told the RPC that the police are still gathering information before drawing conclusions about what happened.

"We need to understand the set of information and it may be hasty to say something now. We will do the work as quickly as possible. It is not a complex case and we should have a very quick result", he said.

The area where the body was found was isolated for forensic work.
