Russian drone attack in Volhynia. Damaged locomotive near the border with Poland

Disturbing reports from western Ukraine. According to RMF FM journalist Krzysztof Zasada, the Ukrainian Emergency Situations Service reported that as a result of the Russian drone attack in Volhynia, a diesel locomotive was damaged and caught on fire. It is only 30 kilometers from the Dorohusk-Jagodzin border crossing.

The Russian attack was also confirmed by the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sybiha, on the X platform.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 500 locomotives have been damaged or completely destroyed in Russian attacks - more than half of them this year alone," we read in the post by the Ukrainian politician.

Russia confirms: The target was military equipment

The Russian Ministry of Defense leaves no doubt about the purpose of the attack. The official statement said that "during the night, Russia attacked the railway infrastructure in western Ukraine. The target was a freight train that was supposed to transport military equipment and weapons for the Ukrainian army."

Moscow emphasizes that such actions are aimed at "disrupting land channels for the supply of foreign military aid."

The statement also confirmed Sunday's attack on the Polish-Ukrainian border crossing.

Another attack in recent days

This is the second such incident in recent days. On Sunday, the Gerań-4 unmanned vehicle directly hit a locomotive at the Jagodusk-Dorohusk border crossing.

According to the services, the drone hit a technical locomotive that was supposed to drag a passenger train to the chassis replacement site at the Jagodusk-Dorohusk crossing. We are talking about the Kyiv-Warsaw train.

Fortunately, no people were injured in this attack.
