Medvedev defeated Safiullin and reached the ATP-250 final in Hangzhou

The sixth racket of the world Daniil Medvedev defeated compatriot Roman Safiullin in the semi-finals of the ATP-250 tournament in Hangzhou with a score of 7:5, 6:4 and reached the final. This was reported by the “Championship” with reference to the ATP Tour.

The meeting lasted one hour and 43 minutes. Medvedev completed seven serves and made three double faults. Safiullin, ranked 84th in the world, hit six aces and two double faults.

This victory was Medvedev's 350th on hard court at the ATP level in his career. Among active tennis players, only Novak Djokovic (741), Gael Monfils (395) and Marin Cilic (380) have more wins on hard court. The Russian became the 18th player in the Open era to reach this mark.

In the final, Medvedev will meet with the 24th racket of the world Andrei Rublev. This will be the first Russian ATP tournament final in 3.5 years. In personal meetings at the ATP level, Medvedev wins with a difference of 7:2.

Earlier this year, Medvedev won the ATP-500 in Dubai and ATP-250 in Brisbane. The final in Hangzhou will be the Russian’s fourth of the season. The last time Medvedev and Rublev met in the final was in March 2023 in Dubai, where Medvedev won with a score of 6:2, 6:2.
