Evgeniy Semenenko topped the list of reserves for the ISU Grand Prix stages in men's single skating

Russian figure skater Evgeny Semenenko topped the list of reserves for the stages of the ISU Grand Prix series in men's single skating. Sports.ru reports this with reference to the International Skating Union.

The 23-year-old athlete qualified for a place in the rankings after winning the Ondrej Nepela Memorial challenger in Bratislava. Semenenko scored 292.09 points, setting the best result in the history of Russian men's single skating. He was 13 points ahead of Italian Daniel Grassl.

The second and third substitutes were Russians Vladislav Dikidzhi and Pyotr Gumennik. The reserve lists give skaters the opportunity to perform at the Grand Prix stages in the event of withdrawal of the main participants.

“I really want to compete at all possible competitions, and even more so at ones like the Grand Prix. I hope that everything will go well,” Semenenko said on Okko.

Semenenko is a two-time Russian champion, silver and bronze medalist at national championships. Russian figure skaters are admitted to international competitions in a neutral status.
