Pavel Kolobkov commented on FIDE's decision to uphold the suspension of the Russian Chess Federation

Vice-President of the International Chess Federation Pavel Kolobkov commented on the decision of the FIDE General Assembly to uphold the suspension of the Russian Chess Federation. Sport Express reports this.

“The decision is expected. There was a decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which FIDE is guided by. Of course, this issue was considered,” Kolobkov said. According to him, the new president of the organization, Timur Turlov, is just getting to the heart of the matter.

Kolobkov noted that many federations are waiting for the FSR to restore its rights. “I’ve been here for almost a week, and every day the delegates told me how they were waiting for us and wanted us to return. I felt a very positive attitude towards Russia. Even today many came out in support. Nobody asked anyone, they followed the call of the soul,” the functionary emphasized.

The FIDE Vice-President expressed hope for the continuation of a constructive dialogue with Turlov. “The main thing is that he said that he is ready to resolve various complex issues within the federation. This is very important. Therefore, I hope that the line of constructive dialogue will be continued,” Kolobkov said.
