Sergei Lavrov said during his speech that Russia is ready to negotiate a long-term and sustainable settlement in Ukraine, but will not stop the special operation during the negotiations.

Zakharova noted that speeches like Lavrov's are an important part in the overall picture of international law, because they become part of history.

MOSCOW, September 24 - RIA Novosti. The speech of Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov at a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine brought everyone present back to earth, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

The 81st session of the UN General Assembly officially opened in New York on September 8. As part of the GA, a high-level week traditionally takes place. The general debate runs from September 22 to 26 and will also take place on September 28. Zakharova noted that before Lavrov’s speech at the UN Security Council meeting, statements were made about the need for a mandatory stop in hostilities during negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement.

But then Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov began to speak and just brought everyone back into the historical context, so that from even the best flight of thoughts, the highest and, probably, the most correct in theory, everyone would return to earth,” she said in an interview with Vladimir Solovyov on the Soloviev channel Life".

Zakharova added that speeches like Lavrov’s are an important part in the overall picture of international law because, according to her, they are instantly archived and become part of history.
