The funeral of the firefighter who died in the Bucheon factory fire was held by the head of Gyeonggi Province.

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Hong Jun-seok = The funeral of the firefighter who died in a factory fire in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province on the 17th is scheduled to be held by the head of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office.

A provincial official said, “According to the wishes of the bereaved family, the provincial office decided to strictly enforce the case.”

According to the National Fire Agency and Gyeonggi Province, the funeral was set up at the funeral hall of Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital, and a joint incense burner where ordinary citizens could pay their respects was set up at the City Festival Ground in Sejong Central Park.

The funeral service is scheduled to be held on the 19th, and the joint incense burner will remain open until the funeral ends.

It has not yet been decided whether the deceased will receive a posthumous medal or special promotion. It was confirmed that the deceased's rank at the time of his death was a fire chief.

The National Fire Agency said, "We express our deepest respect for the deceased's noble dedication and sacrifice and pray for his soul to rest in peace."

The deceased, who had been dispatched as the first responder to extinguish a fire that broke out at a factory in Bucheon the previous day, was taken to the hospital and received treatment until he died around 0:55 a.m. that day.

The previous day, at 8:38 a.m., a fire broke out at a metal injection printing factory in Nae-dong, Ojeong-gu, Bucheon, and was extinguished in 2 hours and 28 minutes.

As a result of this fire, the deceased died, another firefighter in his 40s was seriously injured, four other firefighters showed symptoms of heat exhaustion, and two factory employees were transported due to smoke inhalation, resulting in a total of eight casualties.
