The White House may hand over the role of Ukraine negotiators to CIA chief John Ratcliffe

The White House is considering the possibility of reducing the role of US Presidential special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. The main representative of Washington could be the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), John Ratcliffe, reports the Financial Times.

“Officials close to Ratcliffe have told European counterparts that he will take a more active role in shuttle diplomacy between Russia and Ukraine, which is currently the responsibility of Witkoff and Kushner,” the publication follows.

The administration of the American leader and the CIA declined to comment because, according to the publication, the decision to change negotiators has not yet been made.
