The first Pyeonghwarak Festival hosted by Chilgok residents was successfully completed.

The first festival planned by residents to promote their hometown was successfully held.

(Chilgok = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Hyun-tae = A festival held by residents in Chilgok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do with their combined efforts to promote their hometown is attracting attention.

According to Chilgok-gun on the 15th, the first 'Chilgok Peace and Rock Festival' held at the outdoor lawn plaza of the Chilgok Patriotic Peace Memorial Hall on the 13th ended successfully after lasting about 9 hours.

At the time, the event venue was crowded with visitors who came through word of mouth.

This festival, held under the theme of 'Crying for Peace,' was organized by residents with the intention of continuing the patriotic history of Chilgok, which was the center of the Nakdong River defense line during the Korean War, with the meaning of peace.

In particular, local residents took charge of everything from event planning, casting, sound, performance, publicity, safety and traffic guidance, adding meaning.

Preparation for the event was led by six local organizations, including Chilgok Humanities Cooperative, Ding Ding Research Institute, Cheongon Volunteer Corps, Chilgok-gun Youth Council Association, Devils, and Doori Planning.

They divided roles according to their experience and capabilities, and even financed the performance costs, which amounted to about 50 million won, including recruiting cast members.

On the meaningful stage, eight teams, including local youth bands, performed music of various genres.

An event official said, “As it was our first event, there were some shortcomings, but we hope that more people will join us next time.”

Kim Jae-wook, Mayor of Chilgok-gun, said, “We congratulate the success of the first rock festival, which was started voluntarily by residents, and will spare no effort in supporting it to become another peace festival that promotes Chilgok.”
